Following his discharge from the Army in 1946 Buddy was playing guitar in and around Denver, CO.  It was Bob Scobey that turned Buddy's career around when he asked him to play banjo in his Dixieland band in Chicago.
After Bob Scobey's death Buddy continued to play in clubs in the Chicago area.  His tenor was tuned to the traditional CGDA.
