BUNNY LONGO

When Bunny asked to learn to play the banjo she met quite a bit of family opposition. Her parents decided to buck the surrounding culture  and support their daughter's musical desires. By age 14 she was performing in public and in 1926 she was appearing on radio for KMOX. She was featured regularly, as a soloist on KMOX, KWK and WIL radio, with her sister Margaret and with the KMOX Melody Maids.

Longo is probably best know for her career as a banjo instructor. Two of her most noted students are John Becker and Mel Bay. John Becker has stated that the two best banjoists that he has ever heard are Harry Reser and Bunny Longo.
