John Becker began playing banjo at the age of eleven.  He then played guitar for twenty years before he decided to return to the banjo.  His professional career began in 1937 and over the years he has been the leader of several bands as well as a member of many more.  The number of recordings he has made is at least fourteen and he still continues to play banjo today in his 80s.
