MIKE HASHEM

        Mike took up the banjo at age eight.  After high school he turned his full attention to the tenor banjo.
       In the 70's he worked at Sweeney's Gay Nineties in Rowley, MA. He has performed from Hawaii to New Orleans, and was featured performer with Pete Fountain on the Mississippi Queen Steamship Line millennium cruise. He won the 1985 U.S. Open Banjo Championship, and performs regularly with his group "Dixieland Strollers" and with the Connecticut Festival Jazz Band
