ROBIN HOPKINS

Born in Greencastle, Indiana on July 5, 1952. His neighbor was a piano teacher so he had to take lessons. While at Indiana University the folk craze was gaining momentum and everyone it seemed to be playing the guitar. Robin didn't have an acoustic guitar so he decided to play the tenor banjo that was sitting around his home. In the spring of 1971 he heard Pete Fountain and that changed his life forever. He left college, purchased a plectrum banjo, and began playing engagements in the French Quarter.
In 1974 Robin played on the Delta Queen riverboat filling in for Vic Tooker. When Tooker returned a year later Robin replaced Tooker  at the "Terrace" Hilton in Cincinnati. Over the years Robin has had the opportunity to play with: Guy Lombardo, Jack Jones, Roy Eldridge, Eddie “Popeye” Egan, “Radar” Gary Burghoff, Erich Kunzel, Cab Calloway, & Benny Goodman. It was in 1989 he returned to Indianapolis and it was there he teamed up with Kathleen Miller. Together they put together a show for theatrical venues and also started a company to promote shows for tour groups (ROBKA PRODUCTIONS, Inc.).
