The Dallas Banjo Band was formed in 1989 under the direction of the late, great Smokey Montgomery. It is unique in that Smokey provided arrangements that include three distinct Lead parts, various Rhythms, and a Tuba part for a sound that emulates a full orchestra, even though there are only 20 to 30 Tenor and Plectrum banjos plus a Tuba. It has even had a Grammy nomination.
