"Doll Dance"

The latest Perry Bechtel is an interesting and challenging one. It's called "Doll Dance." Special thanks go to Bruce Stangeland and Derek Channing for their assistance. The tune is highlighted by multiple triplets throughout. It's important to watch for sharps and flats especially just after the triplets. Many of the triplets have sharps in them which is carried over to later notes within the same measure.
To make this tune even more interesting, Perry wrote this chart in the "Doll Dance" original key: "D". Very rarely do we work with a chart that has two sharps to start!
Look closely at Perry's original chart for notations on proper fingering. Finger notations are not part of the Finale chart. Also, near the end of the verse (at the bottom of the page), Perry provides information on which string to play. That's provided by putting the string number inside a circle.
Finally, you'll notice Perry marked "dotted quarter" notes with two flags at the beginning of line four on his chart. Those dotted quarter notes are to be played as 16ths and are written as such on the Finale chart. The effect creates a tremolo which can be heard on the MIDI playback.
Perry's "Doll Dance" is well written and well thought out. "Doll Dance" was a popular tune many years ago but has faded from the music scene in recent years. Maybe some you will bring "Doll Dance" back to life on the performance stage
